While Ethiopia is the ancestral home of coffee, some areas are of recent “vintage. Guji is one of the zones of the Oromia Region of Ethiopia, and named after a tribe of the Oromo people. The Guji Zone was created in September 2002, when the upland woredas of the Borena Zone were split apart to create it. Some of the great heirloom varietals farmed in Ethiopia hail from this large sector, and represent a veritable who’s who of prized coffees.
